Obama became the 44th president of the United States January 20th in Washington D.C. Democrats Obama and Vice President Biden beat out John McCain and Sarah Palin to win the presidency. Obama's inauguration is the most important event of 2009. He is the first African American to become President, which shows that the U.S. is taking a step forward against racism. Also, the President of the United States, Obama holds a lot of power to change the future. Obama came into a difficult time for most Americans, and has to try to 'fix' all the nation's woes, like the bad economy.
